Catching My Breath

This weekend is our Fall Break, which I customarily go home for, but this year, I decided to stay at school and catch my breath- because when life is going at 100mph, you don’t realize how fast it’s going until you stop moving.

After a few hectic weeks of school and work, waking up this morning at 10am without an alarm felt glorious.  I feel like I’ve just been living deadline to deadline with barely any downtime in between for myself, but thankfully, the mid-semester craziness has subsided a bit.

To give you a rough idea of what my break has looked like so far, it’s pretty much consisted of…

Food– because what’s life without food?  To be specific, lots and lots of oats.  I <3 oats…can you tell?

Dreamy Green Goodness

I put all of that extra time I had on my hands to good use each morning, wouldn’t you say?! 😉  There’s just nothing like a nutritiously filling breakfast to start your days off on the right foot.

Komboucha enjoyed in the warmth of the sunshine accompanied by the colors of Fall in upstate NY.

We absolutely lucked out with the weather over break.  The typically grey skies cleared up to reveal welcoming rays of sunshine and the most beautiful clear blue skies that extended for miles, which brings me to my next point:

Fall Foliage- I definitely took advantage of that sunshine and spent as much time outside as I possibly could.

And in true Michelle fashion, what’s a stroll around campus without some photographs of the natural beauty that surrounds campus?

It was so clarifying for the mind and the soul to wander without any particular destination or the constraints of a schedule.  Sometimes the smallest of things, like a simple stroll around campus, taking in all of the breathtaking Fall scenes, can bring me the biggest of smiles.

This solitude gave me the opportunity to collect my thoughts, reflect on the semester up to this point and ponder about life- one of my favorite things to do.

In between food, some soul-searching strolls and yoga, there were your usual Netflix-binge-watching-stay-in-your-PJ’s sessions too.  Don’t you worry!

Albeit short, this break couldn’t have come at a better time.  It’s back to reality in a few days, but for now, I’m savoring all the free time I have 🙂
